Equine Assisted Psychotherapy

Where the journey inward begins with a hoofprint.

Our mission is to provide accessible, trauma-informed equine-assisted therapy that supports healing, growth, and empowerment. We envision a future where equine therapy is a powerful, accessible tool for marginalized communities, offered through structured group and individual sessions.

Our Program

At this time, our primary focus is on launching group equine therapy sessions that foster connection, healing, and support among participants. As our program grows, we plan to thoughtfully expand our offerings to include individual equine-assisted therapy sessions, ensuring we continue to meet the diverse needs of our community with care and intention.

Our program model is built around a series of 8–10 equine-assisted therapy modules, each designed to support emotional growth and interpersonal development. Every 90-minute session follows a consistent structure: beginning with introductions and grounding exercises, including safety briefings and mindfulness practices; followed by experiential equine activities in the arena that align with the session’s theme; and concluding with group processing through guided reflection and therapeutic discussion. Module themes include topics such as Dynamics & Roles, Consent & Boundaries, Identity & Self-Expression, Responsibility, Emotional Awareness & Feelings, Trust, and Teamwork & Collaboration. Each module is centered on a clear therapeutic goal and includes structured interventions and dedicated time for facilitated processing.

Is it Effective?

Equine-assisted therapy is effective because horses are emotionally attuned animals that respond authentically to human behavior, offering immediate, nonverbal feedback that is especially valuable in trauma recovery. Their responses help individuals develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience. The relational nature of working with horses promotes healing through trust-building and connection, while the group therapy structure encourages peer support, shared insight, and a sense of community—key elements in fostering long-term growth and relational repair.

Our impact goals center on expanding access to equine-assisted therapy for individuals from underserved, marginalized, and system-impacted communities. We aim to support system-involved youth and adults by offering consistent, trauma-informed programming within rehabilitation centers, group homes, and similar institutions. Through experiential, horse-centered interventions, we promote healing, emotional regulation, self-awareness, and relational resilience. To ensure the longevity and scalability of our work, we are committed to building sustainable programming through strong partnerships and diversified funding streams. Additionally, we prioritize mentoring and training emerging facilitators—particularly those from the communities we serve—to foster culturally competent, community-rooted care.
