2026 Veterinary Camp

Veterinary Camp is a special, application-only experience designed for students who are curious about animal health, science, and the many roles that support animal well-being. Through hands-on learning with Stardust Sanctuary’s rescued animal ambassadors, campers explore the foundations of veterinary science while developing compassion, critical thinking, and confidence.   Throughout the week, campers will learn directly from visiting professionals who share their real-world experiences in the veterinary field, offering insight into both the science and the heart behind the work. Students will engage in age-appropriate discussions around animal care, ethics, and the complex decisions that can arise in veterinary medicine. In addition to animal-based learning, campers will practice skills such as debate, public speaking, collaboration, and reflective thinking — empowering them to express ideas thoughtfully and advocate for animals with empathy and understanding.

Camp Purpose

Veterinary Camp introduces students to the science, ethics, and heart of animal care. Through hands-on experiences with rescued animals and guidance from veterinary professionals, campers learn how observation, compassion, and critical thinking come together in animal health and welfare.

Observation & Assessment

Campers develop strong observation skills by learning to notice changes in animals, understand body language and behavior, and recognize subtle signs of comfort or concern. Through daily interactions, they discover why careful observation is a foundational part of veterinary care and animal well-being.

Skills & Outcomes

Through hands-on learning and guided experiences, campers develop empathy and responsibility, strengthen scientific observation and ethical reasoning skills, and build confidence communicating, collaborating, and working with animals. By the end of the week, they leave with a deeper understanding of how animals are cared for medically and ethically, greater confidence in asking questions and sharing ideas, increased compassion and respect for animals, and meaningful exposure to careers in veterinary and animal care fields.

Why THIS Camp?

What makes this camp special is its intentional design: it is application-only to ensure readiness and a strong fit, fully funded to increase accessibility, and limited in size to allow for meaningful engagement. Campers learn alongside real animals and real professionals, engaging in thoughtful, age-appropriate conversations that focus on understanding not just what is done in veterinary care, but how and why it matters.
